Final nails in dying industry’s coffin, good riddance! If every phone, across every platform, featured truecall screening technology tomorrow, the cold calling ‘industry’ would desist overnight. If you’re inundated with Indian amyscam callers, PPI, silent robocalls, double glazing firms, surveys, all manner of other annoyances at all hours: this is the landline phone you need. It offers more blocking features than most mobile phone apps. Lets face it, the gov can bring in any legislation they want but it’s all useless if fines aren’t enforced, also useless if companies are based abroad. Registering with TPS is a waste of time too, complaints submitted are ignored by another toothless organisation who aren’t even capable of tracking down telemarketers locations. Even legitimate companies now adopt silly tactics, pretending to call the wrong person then using this as an opportunity to pitch. I was a victim of cold calls, I don’t use the word “victim” lightly – constant harassment started to stress us all out, we got to the point we were…

One gripe These phones do exactly what they are supposed to do and that is screen calls from people you may not want to speak to while giving genuine callers the opportunity to speak thier name and then press a key on thier own handsets. If this key press is not made after giving the caller 2 chances the call is not put through. The need for the key press stops those pre-recorded calls.Unlike some call screening devices this unit does give the genuine anonymous caller the opportunity to be connected (eg my doctors who always withold thier number).Genuine callers would normally follow the instructions and after that you can add thier numbers to the BT 8500’s phone book or the allowed list so that in future they are connected without the screening process. You can also add numbers to your phone book before any calls are placed so that caller is never screened. Eg I just popped my Mums number in the phone book and, to her, ours is just a normal phone…

A must have ! ! If you are troubled by persistent sales/energy/ppp calls and want your peace and quiet back, this phone is a must have. Until recently I had a call blocker (from another company) attached to my line and initially it seemed to work well. As the months wore on however, more and more calls slipped through the net. Then I came across this phone and after reading great reviews I decided to purchase it.Note:You MUST HAVE CALLER ID on your line. The phone gives you a variety of means to deal with callers;ANNOUNCE MODE-All calls not in your Contacts, Allow list or VIP list hear the message “Calls to this number are being screened by BT CallGuardian, Please say your name then press the hash key and wait to be connected”. At this stage your phone won’t ring. Only if they leave their name and press hash will your phone ring. When your phone rings you will hear the name that the caller announced, you now have the option to allow the call once only,…
